Calgary Section Scholarship
Hi all,
This year the Society of Petroleum Engineers Calgary Section (SPECA) will be awarding $60,000 in scholarships to University and college students in the western Canadian region who are Canadian citizens or permanent residents. This year, SPECA will be awarding scholarships to 30 highly qualified students in the amount of $2000.00 each.
This year’s deadline for applications is February 14, 2012.
Requirements:
Submitting an application for SPECA scholarship is as easy as completing the information required on the form and submitting it along with the supporting documents .Please note that you must be an SPE member at the time of your application.
- The cover letter should be no longer than 350 words and be addressed to Mr. Doug Pipchuk, SPECA Student Scholarships.
- It should describe the following:
- Why you think you deserve this scholarship
- How this scholarship will help you financially so you can benefit academically
- Your extra – curricular activities and SPE involvements.
- A copy of your resume
- Your transcripts
- The completed Application Form (PDF)
*Please note that the quality of your application will be taken into account. Make sure you have all documents enclosed and that they are clear and readable. Please refrain from submitting extra documents that are not supporting your application directly.
Candidate Selection Criteria:
- Be enrolled full-time in any diploma or degree program related to the Petroleum Industry, but not necessarily restricted to an Engineering program.
- Be an active student member of the SPE
- Satisfactory academic standing
- Demonstrate financial need
- Extra-curricular activities through SPE, university and community or other volunteer work.
