Calgary Section Scholarship
It's that time of year again and most college/university students are back in the full swing of things, preparing for exams and completing assignments. And it's also that time of year for the SPE Calgary Section to announce the 2008-2009 Scholarship Program, an initiative we have proudly supported for many years at various post-secondary institutions and Student Chapters in Western Canada.
As a charitable organization committed to disseminating technical knowledge within the Petroleum community, the SPE Calgary Section understands that the future of our Section and Society, as a whole, hinges on our younger members. We realize the need to foster the efforts of these generations and, as such, we share a part of this responsibility with our annual Scholarship Program.
Through our annual Scholarship Program we:
- encourage our younger members to strive for academic excellence and seek educational advancement in the Petroleum industry;
- promote and grow our Society;
- provide financial assistance to assist in the ever increasing tuition/education cost environment; and
- reward students who demonstrate an exceptional sense of commitment to our Society and our community.
Thanks to the generous donations of our sponsor and the dedication of our directors to fundraising activities, the SPE Calgary Section is pleased to announce the availability of 25 scholarships to students enrolled in a Petroleum program (not restricted to an Engineering discipline) at one of seven post-secondary institutions in Western Canada. Each scholarship is worth $2,000.
There are two categories of scholarships available: University and College/Technical
Institutes. Details on how to apply, selection criteria and application requirements
may be found in the attachment.

Note that scholarships are for SPE student members only. If you're not a student member of SPE, this is the perfect opportunity to join our Society and experience the great benefits of such a dynamic group of professionals.
